STANLEY SCHMIDT IS THE HOST-PRODUCER.

In addition to hosting and producing Going Beyond Words every Sunday on Omaha’s KVNO-FM, Stanley Schmidt was founder and president of Clarion Records, a choral arts label. He was also president of CollegiumUSA, and distributed the recordings of John Rutter and The Cambridge Singers for over 20 years.   A music educator for 27 years and a church musician for 44 years, Stanley holds a BME from Westmar College and a MA degree in music from the University of California at Sacramento.  For a time he also distributed the Hänssler Label of Germany, The CORO label of Harry Christophers and the Sixteen, and The Rose Ensemble.

STUDIED WITH DISTINGUISHED CONDUCTORS, THROUGHOUT THE WORLD.

He has studied with such distinguished choral conductors as Norman Luboff, Roger Wagner, Elmer Iseler, Helmuth Rilling, Eric Ericson, Dr. Craig Jessop, and John Rutter.   Stanley’s studies have taken him to Paris, Moscow, Warsaw, Stuttgart and London. He has been guest conductor for many choirs, including the world-renowned Mormon Tabernacle Choir.  In 2001 he premiered his own Clarion label, dedicated to the preservation of the choral arts and providing a showcase for today’s finest ensembles.   Stanley also spent eight years selling recordings at the Oregon Bach Festival.

AN ACTIVE CHORAL CONDUCTOR WITH UNIQUE INSIGHTS.

From 1982 until 2002, Stanley served as artistic director of the Clarion Chamber Chorale. During this time, the Chorale sang at two North Central ACDA conventions, appeared with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and achieved top-ten performance recognition from the Omaha World Herald for presentations of Rene Clausen’s Crying for a Dream, Nils Lindberg’s Jazz Requiem with the Composer and the Heartland of America’s USAF Big Band, The Notables, and a concert of the Chorale conducted by John Rutter.   The Omaha World Herald recognized the Clarion Chamber Chorale as “one of Omaha’s premiere Chamber Choirs.”

Stanley served as Artistic Director of The Voices of Omaha from 2003-2008, who annually presents Handel’s “Messiah”.   He currently lives in Sioux Falls, South Dakota with his wife Norma where he produces the show in his home using Pro-Tools Software.
